Nappy rash

On Monday we were out for shopping and I kind of went crazy overboard with shopping for baby's clothings :)

After I went crazy and it was time for early dinner. Little Andrew was seated in the baby chair and I let him have apple juice and a cookie. Then he was satisfied for a while but soon after he was becoming restless. And I found that his romper was kinda wet.

I quickly brought him to change his diaper and romper only to found out he pooped in his diaper >.< It must have been in there for quite a while. I changed his diaper before we left home so it's at least 3 hours already!!!! Little Andrew would never poo without making noise so I was caught by surprised. Anyway, after this incident, little Andrew got nappy rash!!!

It's been good 7+ months and sigh... I never bring any diaper rash cream out so I had to rush to Mothercare and bought the Bud's Nappy Rash Rescue Cream. I used it for 2 days and not much of improvement.

So I started to use the Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm. On the second day, it seems to have improve. I hope it will continue to get better.

After this episode, I have become more vigilant about checking on baby's diaper. Today little Andrew managed to poo in the potty again.

I realised that if it is time to go, he will sit there willingly and do his business. But if there isn't anything to poo, he will make so much noise and won't sit still even for a minute! As soon as it is the right timing, he will straighten his legs and go "mmmmmmnnnggg" and push! :)

Enjoying solids

Since starting little Andrew on solids, he had tried a couple of ingredients. In early stage, we gave him rice cereals by Organix. He loves it very much! Maybe because it will after all contains his milk. We tried both the banana and apple flavour and he seems to enjoy the banana more.

For fruits, I always purée apple for him- his first taste, his first love. Other than that, he had pear, mango and blueberry.

I have also began cooking for little Andrew as soon as he turned 6 months old. I have been making him porridge based food- Carrot porridge, zucchini (& peas) porridge. And starting yesterday I gave him potato. It was meant to be mashed potato but I guess using a blender, gives you a very fine texture. And since I had 60ml of his milk, it looks more like potato soup! Which he still loves! :)

After the 4 days, I will probably diced the potato into his porridge. And slowly add other ingredients.

Time to potty train

A day after Little Andrew's 7 months old, he successfully poo in the potty!

Not long after his morning milk, as I was done washing up his bottle, I heard the familiar "mmmmggg" and quickly carried him out of his crib! As fast as I can, I unbuttoned his romper and got rid of the diaper and ran into the toilet! Not long after I sat Andrew, he went on to "mmmmggg" and the facial expression, non-kicking legs, motionless body, YES!!!! The poo is coming out! All done in less than 10 minutes from the first sign of "mmmmmmmggg."

Since Andrew came home from hospital, he hardly poo in diaper. First of all, Little Andrew refused to poo in his diaper. No idea why but he would only poo when I opened up his diaper. Secondly, his cues were quite obvious. Since coming back from hospital, he will go "mmmmmmggg" when he wanted to poo. I have no idea where he learned that! Thirdly, this mama hates cleaning up the mess he made in the diaper, especially those explosive ones that he had due to his teething >.<

Well, there were times I missed his cues because I was too late - scrambling to find the baby room in the shopping center or we were driving in the middle of no where or I was totally "out of range."

I'm proud that my record has been good so far and the credit should go to Little Andrew :)

2 front teeth

What a Father's Day present from little Andrew to daddy. The second tooth or rather line had been there for days and as I begin to wonder if it was just all my imagination... the second pearly white finally shows up today when I checked it before bed time.

And today I ordered these Amber Teething Necklace and hoping that it will help ease the baby's crankiness and drooling. Will have to wait and see if it works. I also bought one bracelet/anklet, maybe I can try putting it on baby while he sleeps at night. Who knows it might help him sleep through the night better.

Little Andrew currently (for a few days now) wakes up around midnight and around 3am-4am. The midnight waking is easy to settle with just a few pats. But if he wakes later, say closer to 4am, it takes longer. 2 nights ago, it tool me 1.5 hours to pat and sooth him back to sleep! I didn't give him milk, so not wanting him to get used to the idea of waking up and get milk!! I let him have a sip of water though.

He used to sleep through when he co-sleeps on our bed but I don't want him to get used to it and will never leave our bed. So one might I decided to go cold turkey with him and let him fall asleep in his crib. So far so good! Even if doing so means retraining him to sleep through the night, at least I get my much needed space in my bed to sleep!!! :)

Is it safe?

Little Andrew never tried to "escape" his crib until recently. He can't crawl just yet, but he would roll and stretch and wriggle his way around- be it his crib or our king-size bed.

I used to leave him in his crib when I wanted to do a quick dash to the toilet or do some cleaning up. But lately he has been grabbing the crib or sticking his limbs out. It's kinda scary. He should not get stuck because the gap is quite far apart. But he might lodged himself in the most unexpected position right?

I reminded hubby we need to get the next room ready for little Andrew. With furnitures and decos more of his age appropriate! So it's a safer environment where he can move around safely and freely!

Great holiday!

The three of us were off to KK for a week of holiday and it was a great one! I enjoyed seeing how my parents bonded with little Andrew and how he never cease to entertain his grandparents. I am glad that I decided to go for family getaway to the mountains and to the beach!

I wasn't looking for activities or sight-seeing during the trip, I wanted my parents to enjoy little Andrew all by themselves, away from others. So I chose to getaway. I am sure if we stayed in KK, there will be too many people visiting us and taking that precious time away from my parents.

I wanted little Andrew to remember his grandparents - my parents, and I wanted my parents to be able to play and bond with little Andrew. And I am glad I achieved what I set out to do for this holiday. I am glad my parents enjoyed the time together and I am pretty sure little Andrew had a great time - from all the swimming and pampering and playing!
