My baby, my hero

Little Andrew didn't sleep through the night for 2 nights now and today he did the same waking at about 1.30am and just wouldn't go back to sleep. Daddy pat pat until he fell asleep first! So as I continue to pat little Andrew to sleep, I heard noises downstairs. I thought it was the irritating cat that kept sleeping on our shoe rack!

But after a couple minutes, it was getting louder and I thought the cat couldn't have been that aggressive! So I woke up the hubs to check downstairs.

Never in my mind that it was burglars trying to get into our house!!!!! Hubs saw their face when he went down and peeped out the window. They were still forcing their way in when he peeped!

I was blind without my glasses when I peeped through the window from the room. By the time I went back with my glasses, they already took off.

My oh my. We stayed here for close to 10 years already and this is the first time any attempt of burglary happened to our house, though there was once our neighbour's car was almost stolen. Stolen cars are common I think but breaking an entry is another story!

I woke up my sis and brother in law, while letting my mom taking care of Andrew while we inspect the damages. We found that our front gate was opened, the front grill was broken, the front door's key hole panel was broken and taken apart and thank goodness it was just the outside was damaged. They couldn't push their way through because we got a good lock that just refused to budge!! And the best and probably what saved us were the 2 safety latch that we slide it lock every night!!!

It was a horrifying experience for us. Thank God that we are all safe and Thank God for watching over us. And the hero here is my little Andrew who decided not to sleep through the night and kept awake until at such hour that I was alerted in time to stop burglary from taking place!

My baby is growing all the time

Today after dinner, gave little Andrew some grapes. As usual, I tried feeding him then after a while, I decided to try letting him feed himself. So I put one piece on the tray attached to high hair. To my surprised, he picked it up and put it into his mouth and ate it!!

It was only yesterday I tried giving him grapes and he wouldn't put into his mouth. He usually picked it up and throw it on the floor or squashed it with his hands. But today he pinched it and fed himself. This is truly a great milestone to little Andrew who is always growing and never fail to amaze me with his new skill!

New texture

Little Andrew started having bits of rice whenever we had ours. And lately he has been eating more of our rice! So I decided that it is time to stop mashing/ blending his porridge. He started with very runny porridge and slowly getting lumpier and 2 days ago, this is what he gets for dinner.

Super soft rice cooked with chicken bits. I separately steamed the vege and added them into the rice before serving. It has been ok for the last 2 days! Fingers crossed!

I bought pasteurised egg today, so next food to test is EGG!!! Yolk first!

I stand

Andrew wasn't able to pull himself up and stand just yet. But a week ago, he decided to do it overnight! He wasn't even trying all the time before that! Now that he can pull himself up and stand, he is doing it all the time. To the extend that when he wakes up say in the middle of the night, he will make his way to the headboard and tries to stand!

Not only he is standing, he can actually hold on to the bed rail or the headboard and walk about. He's not doing it just yet with the sofa or the coffee table or the bed! But I am pretty sure it will happen sooner than I think. And now next will be WALKING! Or maybe running will happen even sooner!

Gotta buy shoes for little Andrew! There were occasions he wants to get down and walk! So better start now then later when he walks and refusing to wear shoes because as it is now, he doesn't wear socks!

Breast milk vs Formula milk

I am definitely 100% all for breast milk and I was 100% prepared for it too! But it didn't turn out as I wished for (http://antheama.blogspot.com/2012/03/breastfeeding.html?m=1)

There are way too many articles and forums/discussion where BM mommies bashing FM mommies - directly and indirectly by making comments about FM.

Some people chose to FM but there are mommies like me who just can't make it happen! So there is no need to be so mean to FM mommies. Every parents want the best for their children, and every parents will have different view about parenting. You can be pro-BM, but there is no need to bash up FM mommies. The worst comment I read was "human milk for human, cow milk
for cow". If I had a choice I would give MY VERY OWN BM, but I just can't! Stop saying that babies only need very little colostrum for the first few days. But do you know my few is 10 drops per hand express!!!!

So please stop bashing up FM mommies!

Fussy little one

Little Andrew is and always our little Angel. But there are occasions he had been the fussy pot- the lack of sleep or hungry.

Well hungry is easy to "cure" and can be settled quite fast. Nothing a milk can't fix.

But the lack of sleep or wanting to go to sleep is another story. Little Andrew can be quite a fussy sleeper if there is such a term. He sleeps only in certain positions and usually a bed is the best bet. And it's not easy to let him doze off in his stroller- usually involve lotsa pushing around.

He sometimes fall asleep in the car as well. The car seat not only keeps him in place, it also helps him to fall asleep easier than having me to hug him
to sleep.

In fact, little Andrew is not much of a hugger. When we carry him, his hands will go "handsfree" unlike most babies or children, they will hang on to their dear lives whenever the daddy or the mummy carries. So when he wants to sleep, not daddy or mummy can put him to sleep while carrying him.

But I must say, Andrew is relatively good sleeper at night. He sleeps through the night since as long as I can remember. This is attributed to co-sleeping perhaps. Because he can't when we put him to sleep in the crib. I guess he just wants to feel close to mummy and daddy (perhaps mummy more though).
